Transparency.
Fair Decisions.
Responsible Growth.
Running to give Conway residents a stronger voice in the decisions shaping our city's future.
A life rooted in Conway.
AJ Regester moved to Conway more than 30 years ago, starting first grade at Sallie Cone Elementary in 1994. A graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, he holds a master's degree in computer science and has worked as a full-time software developer since 2015.
AJ has also spent years engaged in Conway's civic life. He served on the Conway Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board from 2019 through 2023, including as chair in 2022, and currently serves as treasurer and a board member for Conway Advocates for Bicycling. He has supported local infrastructure and advocacy efforts and was named the organization's Bicycle Advocate of the Year in 2021. Recently he also helped launch ConwayDataCenter.com to make public information about the proposed Conway data center more accessible to residents. Whether serving on a city board, attending public meetings, or helping neighbors navigate local government, his focus has remained the same: ensuring residents have access to information and a meaningful opportunity to be heard.
Outside of public meetings, AJ is an active member of the Faulkner County Master Gardeners, a Foothills Arkansas Master Naturalist, and an avid cyclist. He regularly volunteers in local gardening and environmental stewardship efforts and can often be found working at the Faulkner County Museum Gardens, cycling Conway's streets and trails, or tending his own wildlife- and pollinator-friendly landscape.
AJ is running for Conway City Council, Ward 2, Position 1, to bring a practical, independent, and data-informed voice to city government. He believes public office is a position of trust and that Conway works best when decisions are transparent, growth is responsible, and residents are informed, included, and heard.
Priorities for Conway
Three commitments that will guide my work on City Council.
Transparent City Government
Conway residents deserve to know how decisions are made and where tax dollars go. I will push for clear budgets, understandable project updates, and easy access to meeting agendas, supporting documents, and vote records. Government should be straightforward to follow so residents can see what is proposed, why it matters, and how decisions are made.
Meaningful Input Before Final Votes
When decisions affect Conway neighborhoods, residents and local stakeholders deserve enough time to participate. I will support decision timelines that provide advance notice, clear deadlines, and real opportunities to raise concerns and offer ideas. Public input should help shape outcomes before votes are final.
Smart Growth That Protects Conway's Future
Conway is growing, and I believe growth should improve quality of life for current residents. I will evaluate projects based on real neighborhood impacts like traffic, infrastructure, utility capacity, and long-term city costs. Growth should strengthen Conway, not strain it.
Endorsements
Neighbors and local leaders who know AJ's work firsthand.
“AJ is thorough, and he cares deeply about Conway. I feel good about supporting someone who takes the work seriously and is willing to put in the time. It's easy for me to support someone who has already been doing the work.”
— Drew Spurgers“Making a city work means being open-minded about solutions and listening to people you might disagree with. Sometimes systems behave counterintuitively and if you can't adjust your thinking then you follow your assumptions to bad outcomes. AJ would be a terrific addition to the city council because he will do his homework and listen. ”
